20 Years Refugee is committed to building an inclusive society where every child and young person is welcomed, regardless of their background, abilities, or social circumstances. Our vision is a global community that not only accepts diversity but embraces it as a source of strength and enrichment.

The name of our organization comes from the personal story of our founder, who lived through more than two decades of displacement and migration in the Middle East and Europe. These experiences have shaped us deeply and continue to motivate our work today. We know what exclusion, isolation, and discrimination feel like — and we strive to prevent children and young people from going through the same.

We focus especially on children and young people living with ADHD or depression, those struggling with self-isolation, and refugee children — whether they come from war zones or are growing up here in Germany. For them, we create spaces where they can build self-confidence, experience community, and make their strengths visible.

Our work combines personal experience with educational practice. Through creative projects, simulations, and international collaborations — not only in Germany, Ukraine, and Kurdistan, but around the world — we promote respect, empathy, cooperation, and the power of an inclusive society.
